FUSO is part of the newly founded ARCHION Group. Since April 2026, it has been bringing together the independent brands Mitsubishi FUSO and Hino Motors under one roof to make even better use of resources and know-how in the future.
With the proven Canter and the pioneering eCanter, the FUSO brand stands for light trucks like hardly any other in Europe. FUSO has been a very special quality promise to its European customers for over four decades. With a Canter or an eCanter, they opted for reliability, practicality and customer proximity “Made in Europe”, manufactured in Tramagal, Portugal, since 1981.
All that will change in the future is that the Canter and eCanter will benefit extensively from value-adding synergy effects in the areas of procurement, production, development and innovation. The FUSO brand continues to be represented in 34 European countries and in 170 countries worldwide.
New parent company with the same values
However, Mitsubishi FUSO Trucks Europe, or MFTE for short, is now part of a new parent company, the ARCHION Group. Daimler Truck AG and Toyota Motor Corporation are bringing their two independent brands, Mitsubishi FUSO and Hino Motors, into the Japanese company, which was founded in 2025 and is headquartered in Tokyo. At the same time, among other things, they remain 25 percent shareholders in the Group. This pioneering integration is based on the claim “Shaping the future of commercial mobility” and brings together two strong partners who have jointly formulated the aspiration to significantly drive forward the transformation in the commercial vehicle industry – for the benefit of their customers, society and the environment.
Efficient set screws for future-proof installation
ARCHION is focusing on a platform strategy and will offer its customers an even stronger and market-oriented portfolio under both brands in the future. The declared goal of the new company is to increase the competitiveness of its brands and to enable even more investments in further development, research and sustainability through economic efficiency. ARCHION will soon be synonymous with safe, reliable and environmentally friendly vehicles.
Innovative technologies actively shape progress
Already in 2010, Mitsubishi FUSO presented the Canter as an E-Cell prototype, followed by the world’s first all-electric truck: the first-generation eCanter, which went into small-scale production in 2017. Boldly implemented visions and innovations put into practice have always been core elements and competence of the brand.
Under ARCHION, Mitsubishi FUSO continues this approach and works on future-oriented solutions for CO2 neutrality and logistics efficiency for its customers. In addition to the sustainable electrification of vehicles and the creation of the associated charging infrastructure as well as the management of energy, other technologies are of central importance. For example, the ever-increasing networking of vehicles, which in future will communicate even more effectively with infrastructure, other vehicles or mobile devices. It is also about the further development of autonomous or automated driving. These developments are the basis for the transformation in the commercial vehicle industry.
