General information on FUSO

FUSO is a brand of Daimler Truck AG and specialises in light commercial vehicles. The vehicles are designed for urban and regional use and stand for efficiency, reliability and high body-mounting capability. In Europe, FUSO is represented in more than 30 countries and is sold through the Mercedes-Benz service network.

The European FUSO Canter and eCanter are produced at the Tramagal plant in Portugal. Since 2022, the plant has been producing completely CO2-neutrally.

The name “FUSO” comes from the Japanese and refers to the “Fus➞ tree”, a symbol of strength and endurance. It was first used for a Mitsubishi ship in 1932 and today stands for the combination of Japanese engineering craftsmanship and global commercial vehicle expertise.

Vehicles & models

FUSO offers the diesel Canter in five weight classes (3.5t to 8.55t) and the allelectric Next Generation eCanter in four weight classes (4.25t to 8.55t). Both model series are available in up to six wheelbases and different cab variants.

The Canter is a conventional diesel light truck with a high payload and robust technology. The eCanter is all-electric, locally emission-free and particularly quiet – ideal for inner-city delivery transport. The eCanter is offered in more than 40 variants – by combining weight classes, wheelbases, cab types and battery packs.

The diesel Canter is available in four weight classes: 3.5t, 6.0t, 7.49t and 8.55t. The chassis load capacity is up to 6 tonnes, depending on the model.

There are three types of cabin: Standard cab (1.695 m wide), comfort cab (1.995 m) and crewcab (also 1,995 m), depending on space requirements and application.

Technology & equipment

The diesel Canter is available with three engine variants: 130 hp (96 kW), 150 hp (110 kW) and 175 hp (129 kW). The engines comply with the Euro VI emissions standard and offer torques of up to 430 Nm.

A 5-speed manual transmission and the automated DUONIC® 2.0 6-speed dual-clutch transmission are available – for comfortable driving without interruptions in tractive power.

The chassis load capacity is between approx. 1,500 kg (3.5 t) and just under 6,000 kg (8.55 t), depending on the model. This makes the Canter one of the highest payloads in its class.

The turning circle starts at just 10.2 m (wheelbase 2,500 mm) – ideal for narrow inner cities and manoeuvring manoeuvres.

Depending on the battery pack, the eCanter offers a range of up to 200 km. The S package covers up to 70 km, the M package up to 140 km and the L package up to 200 km per charge. *

The range was determined internally under specific test conditions, including a partially laden vehicle with box body at an ambient temperature of 20°C, and may deviate from the values determined in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2017/2400. The actual range depends on the individual use of the vehicle, the vehicle configuration and other external factors. Therefore, the actual range may be below or above the specified value.

The eCanter can be charged with both AC (alternating current) and DC (direct current). AC charging takes place with 11 kW (S battery) or 22 kW (M and L battery). For example, the S battery is charged DC from 20 to 80% in 24 min, while the L battery is charged from 20 to 80% in 39 min. AC, the S battery takes 4 hours and 12 minutes to charge (0-100%), while the L battery takes around 6 hours.**

Charging time depends on various factors such as the vehicle’s charging capacity, the charging station’s charging capacity, the battery’s state of charge (SoC), the ambient and battery temperature. The values are based on internally determined empirical values under optimal conditions of 20 °C.

Service & Sales

Sales take place via the Mercedes-Benz dealer network with over 800 service centres in Europe. Consulting, sales, maintenance and repairs are carried out there with the highest quality.

Use the dealer search on fuso-trucks.com to quickly find the nearest FUSO partner – available throughout Europe.

FUSO offers a comprehensive warranty for new vehicles. The Canter comes with a warranty of up to 3 years or up to 100,000 km, whichever comes first. For the eCanter, the service contract includes even more: You are guaranteed 5 years and 100.000 km mileage. An extended warranty of up to 8 years is also available for the high-voltage batteries.

Details on the term and scope can be obtained directly from the dealer or service partner.

Yes, FUSO offers factory-fitted bodies such as platforms and tippers. These are ready for immediate use and are matched to the chassis. In addition, numerous optional extras are available ex factory.

Industry solutions & practice

Yes, with its robust design, high payload and good ground clearance, the Canter is ideal for construction sites. Crane bodies or container solutions are also possible.

FUSO offers industry-specific solutions for municipal operations – e.g. winter service, sweepers, crew transport with crewcab.

The Canter has a robust ladder-type frame with C-profile and detailed hole pattern – ideal for individual bodies. FUSO works closely with body manufacturers.

Technology & Performance

The Next Generation eCanter is available in four weight classes: 4.25t, 6t, 7.49t and 8.55t. Six wheelbases from 2,500 mm to 4,750 mm are available. A total of over 40 vehicle variants are available – more flexible than ever before.

There are three battery sizes:

  • S package: 41.3 kWh, range up to 70 km
  • M package: 82.6 kWh, range up to 140 km
  • L package: 124 kWh, range up to 200 km The batteries are based on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technology, which is particularly durable and thermally stable.

The range was determined internally under specific test conditions, including a partially laden
vehicle with box body at an ambient temperature of 20°C, and may deviate from the values determined in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2017/2400. The actual range depends on the individual use of the vehicle, the vehicle configuration and other external factors. Therefore, the actual range may be below or above the specified value.

The eCanter supports AC and DC charging:

  • AC charging: 11 kW (S battery), 22 kW (M/L battery)
  • DC charging: up to 70 kW (S battery), up to 104 kW (M/L battery)

Depending on the variant, the electric motor delivers 110 kW or 129 kW and a torque of up to 430 Nm – directly available without gearshifts.

Yes, the eCanter offers mechanical and electric power take-offs (PTO), e.g. for refrigeration units, dumpers or lifting platforms – ideal for municipal and commercial applications.

Driver comfort & safety

The eCanter is equipped with modern safety systems as standard:

  • Active Brake Assist (emergency braking assistant)
  • Sideguard Assist (Sideguard Assist)
  • Speed Limit Assist
  • Attention Assist
  • ESP, ABS, ASR
  • LED daytime driving lights and LED main headlamps
  • Reversing camera

The new digital cockpit offers a fully digital 7-inch display with real-time information on range, charge level, energy flow and driving modes. Operation is intuitive using the multifunction buttons on the steering wheel.

Thanks to its electric drive, the eCanter is particularly quiet, low-vibration and agile. Recuperation (energy recovery when braking) can be set in several stages – for efficient driving.
