Returning an old vehicle up to 3.5 t GVW.
Since the ELV law* came into effect, you as a customer can return your old vehicle to the manufacturer under the following conditions:
*Directive on end-of-life vehicles – EU Directive 2000/53/EC regulates the disassembly and recycling of motor vehicles within the European Union. The goal of the directive is to reduce vehicle waste. This directive requires EU member states to organise return systems for end-of-life vehicles. The directive was implemented in Germany on 1 July 2002, when the End-of-life Vehicle Ordinance came into effect.
Certificate of destruction.
To deregister your old vehicle, you require a so-called certificate of destruction. This certificate of destruction confirms that your vehicle has been properly disposed of. Such a certificate of destruction can be issued only by certified dismantling facilities, certified and authorised acceptance facilities or collection facilities appointed by the manufacturer.
To make it easy for you to dispose of your old vehicle, Daimler AG maintains a nationwide network of acceptance facilities that will take back your old vehicle free of charge. Our contractually tied dismantling facilities are certified by independent experts in accordance with the End-of-life Vehicle Ordinance and satisfy all statutory requirements. In addition, they are audited and monitored according to our quality criteria.
If you wish to return your old FUSO vehicle free of charge, then please phone our network operator Callparts Recycling GmbH on: 033233 70-911 (availability: Mon-Thu from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and Fridays from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm).
First, the vehicle is drained according to the requirements. For this purpose, all operating fluids (such as oil, brake fluid) are removed from the vehicle and recycled. Next, all reusable parts and recyclable materials are removed. These materials, such as glass, tyres and large plastic parts, are separately recycled. The remainder of the body is shredded and separated into the various fractions, which are then recycled to the maximum possible extent.
Reusing more means disposing of less. Environmental protection is one of the key corporate goals of Daimler AG. This means the sparing use of natural resources. Therefore, our goal is to recycle more and therefore to dispose of less. Even when our vehicles are being developed, great importance is attached to an environment-friendly and recycling-compatible design. A good example of this is the use of segregated materials in bumpers and underbody panels.
These allow simple dismantling and high-grade material recycling. In addition, our vehicles use renewable raw materials, such as coconut fibres or sisal. The advantages are clear: environmentally compatible and recyclable. In the Environmental Guidelines of Daimler AG, we undertake to continuously improve the environmental compatibility of our products. This is the benchmark for our day-to-day work as we seek to further optimise the life cycle assessment of our vehicles.
